Flooded /
AmbushThe party exits the destroyed ruins from last week and discovers their little skiff destroyed, wrecked on the rocks as the sand fell away below it. Since their guide, Fipp, was killed (several times) the ratfolk companions suggest trekking to the nearby ratnest and see if the local Boss has anything to say. Deciding to take the broken ship engine along, they build a small sled and drag it across the desert with them. The rat nest turned out to be in chaos, after the oracles for the nest prophesized DOOOOM and then left, and the rest of the rats were packing to do the same. The party did get some information on a plan the rats had to steal a boat (sneaking some rats on board to break the engine and ground it, then attack while grounded) Deciding this was a good plan, the party graciously accepted the rats suggestion that they do the plan instead. They also graciously decided to remove the tentacles from the Rat bosses wet entry points. However on leaving the nest they were ambushed by an old enemy (who they forgot about and I'm not sure if they actually ever noticed... ok they said they remembered who he was and apart from adding to his wet entry points, they just wanted him dead....) ![]() Hidden enemies, stealth Gatling guns on the cliffs above, alchemy rats throwing dust bombs around.... And a boss rat who can stealth in plain sight... During the battle, Tony turns out to be CRITICAL to its success, his spells revealing the stealthy boss, and his robust body parts that tanking the bulk of the damage. In short order, the group slaughters the last (except one, who fakes death by swallowing a "fake your own death" potion while also keeping a healing potion in one cheek) and continue the trek across the desert to find the downed ship..... (Actually, Tony was even the first to notice the guards had been killed that didn't really affect anything unfortunately.) ![]() Now we stand before a grounded ghost powered air-ship, the crew overwhelming in numbers. As they approach the Captain seems curious to see if the group are "with the people of the cloud".... and doesn't seem too upset by that.... In the stern of the ship, a small rat head occasionally pops out and tosses machine parts out into the desert |
